1. Who owns the content
Unless otherwise stated, original writing, perspectives, notes, diagrams, frameworks, working material, Workbench material, downloads, and other content published on Synoptikon.com and in the promptingtrust.ai newsletter are owned by David Hawks or the relevant rights holder.
Copyright protects the expression of ideas. It does not prevent others from independently writing about the same subjects, categories, or questions.
2. What you can do
You may:
- read and link to any public Synoptikon page;
- quote short excerpts with clear attribution to Synoptikon and a link to the source;
- use public material for personal learning and reference;
- share links to articles, notes, and Workbench pages on social media or in your own writing;
- use subscriber or gated material according to the access tier and any licence or terms shown with that material.
Attribution should identify the piece and author clearly. A reasonable form is: David Hawks, Synoptikon, [title], [URL] [ date accessed]
3. What is not permitted without permission
Unless allowed by law or a separate written agreement, you must not:
- republish full articles or substantial parts of articles;
- copy, package, or redistribute subscriber-only or gated material;
- resell, sublicense, or commercially exploit working material, checklists, templates, or downloads;
- remove, obscure, or replace attribution or copyright notices;
- imply endorsement, partnership, or client relationship with Synoptikon or David Hawks;
- scrape, bulk download, or systematically copy the site for any purpose;
- use Synoptikon content — including perspectives, notes, frameworks, working material, or Workbench material — to train, fine-tune, evaluate, augment, or otherwise develop AI systems without explicit written permission.
4. Fair dealing
Australian copyright law provides fair dealing exceptions, not the broader fair use doctrine that applies in other jurisdictions.
Fair dealing may apply in Australia for purposes such as research or study, criticism or review, reporting the news, professional legal advice, parody, or satire — depending on the specific circumstances and how the use is carried out.
If you rely on a fair dealing exception, you are responsible for satisfying yourself that the use is lawful. When in doubt, ask.
5. Third-party material
Synoptikon may quote, reference, link to, or discuss third-party material. Third-party content — including images, data, charts, brand names, platform screenshots, and excerpts — remains owned by its respective rights holder.
Where third-party material appears on Synoptikon, the intended purpose is commentary, criticism, review, reference, or illustration.
6. AI-assisted work
Synoptikon may use AI tools for research, drafting, editing, or workflow development.
Unless expressly stated otherwise, AI assistance does not alter the copyright notice, the authorship position, or responsibility for the final editorial judgments made in each piece.
7. Comments
If you submit a comment on Synoptikon, you retain any copyright you hold in that comment.
By submitting a comment, you grant SYNOPTIKON PTY LTD a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, display, moderate, reproduce, archive, and distribute the comment as part of the site and related materials.
Do not submit comments that include material you do not have permission to share, or that would infringe someone else’s copyright, confidentiality, or privacy.
8. Subscriber and gated material
Workbench, checklists, Workbench material, downloads, and deeper analysis behind the Synoptikon reader or subscriber access layer are provided for the eligible reader’s personal use and reference.
Unless a separate licence expressly allows it, you must not redistribute, resell, sublicense, or share subscriber material with people who do not hold their own eligible access.
Subscriber access is managed through Prompting Trust and checked against Beehiiv subscriber records. Access does not transfer between readers.
9. Linking
Linking to public Synoptikon pages is welcome and does not require permission.
Deep links to gated content will redirect to the access confirmation flow. They do not bypass access controls.
10. Copyright concerns and takedown requests
If you believe material published on Synoptikon infringes your copyright or another right you hold, please contact:

To help review the concern, please include:
- the specific material you are concerned about;
- the URL where it appears;
- the rights owner and the basis for the claim;
- your contact details;
- any relevant supporting information.
Synoptikon may remove or restrict access to material while a concern is being reviewed. Submitting a takedown request does not guarantee removal.
11. Changes to this page
This page may be updated from time to time. The effective date at the top of the page reflects the current version. Continued use of Synoptikon after a change is posted constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
