Welcome and thanks for coming!

Synoptikon is my personal professional site for my thinking on AI, technology, security, and trust.

Synoptikon is not a news site, a newsletter, or a service catalogue. It is my professional library: a place to develop and publish thinking that does not fit the newsletter format and does not expire with the news cycle.

The questions I keep coming back to are practical ones. What changes when an AI system can act, not just advise? What evidence should an organisation require before it trusts a supplier, model, or automated control? Who is accountable when a machine identity inherits permissions from a human one? How should leaders make decisions when risk moves faster than the governance processes designed to contain it?

Those questions sit across AI, security, identity, governance, and digital trust. That is the ground this site covers. The categories describe the kind of material you are reading: Big Reads, Explainers, Perspectives, and Workbench.

How the Site Is Organised

The site is organised around four categories. They overlap, but each gives you a different way into the work.

Big Reads are regular analyses of AI, trust, and security; they are typically attached to a newsletter from prompting trust and explore a specific theme that has been encountered there. Start here if you want the fuller analysis of the changing trust landscape.

Explainers are guides to the ideas and risks behind AI. They’re designed to explore concept systems and mechanisms in plain English and evolved from my own study notes.

Perspectives are personal takes on AI, trust, and their impact. You’ll find these are usually shorter, more opinionated pieces that aim to spark thought.

Workbench is always “under development” and is where you’ll find tools, assets, working notes, and a host of other things that will hopefully help you to put trust in AI into practice.

How does Prompting Trust fit in?

Prompting Trust is the newsletter platform connected to Synoptikon. Its flagship edition, The Context, covers current developments in AI, security, identity, and digital trust, along with useful links and shorter notes for readers who want the current signal without always reading a long perspective.

The two are designed to work together. The Context keeps you close to what is changing. Synoptikon gives the arguments and practical material more room.
