Terms of Use

About These Terms

These Terms of Use apply to Synoptikon, operated by SYNOPTIKON PTY LTD (ABN 30 348 824 926).

By using Synoptikon — reading public content, requesting reader access, subscribing to Prompting Trust, purchasing a paid tier, downloading working material, or submitting comments — you agree to these terms.

If you do not agree, please do not use the site or its protected materials.

About Synoptikon

Synoptikon is a personal professional site for perspectives, notes, Workbench material, working material, and longer-form thinking on AI, technology, security, identity, governance, and trust. It is operated by SYNOPTIKON PTY LTD and is connected with the Prompting Trust newsletter and subscriber layer at promptingtrust.ai.

Using the site, reading the material, or accessing subscriber content does not create a professional-client relationship.

General Information Only

The material on Synoptikon and Prompting Trust is provided for general information, education, commentary, and guidance only.

It is not professional advice, legal advice, security advice, financial advice, or a substitute for advice tailored to your circumstances. You should make your own assessment and seek appropriate professional advice before relying on any material for consequential decisions.

Personal Views

Unless expressly stated otherwise, the views published on Synoptikon and Prompting Trust are the personal views of the author. They do not represent the views, policies, positions, or endorsements of any client, partner, employer, or other organisation.

Reader Access

Some Synoptikon content is publicly available. Other content — including certain articles, working material, downloads, Workbench material, and comment participation — may require reader access or a paid tier.

Reader access is checked using the email address you have registered with Prompting Trust, your Beehiiv subscriber status, and your subscription tier. Beehiiv is the source of truth for subscriber records. Synoptikon issues its own time-limited reader links and signed reader sessions to confirm access on this site.

You must not share access links or use them to bypass access controls.

Access may be refused, limited, suspended, or withdrawn if:

  • your subscriber record cannot be confirmed;
  • your access tier does not include the requested material;
  • your access link is expired, invalid, or has already been used;
  • you misuse the site, comments, downloads, or access features;
  • access is affected by a technical, payment, subscription, or platform issue.

Paid tiers are offered through Prompting Trust and processed through Stripe or the active subscription platform.

Prices, billing periods, benefits, renewal terms, cancellation options, and refund processes are shown at checkout or in the subscription platform. Paid subscriptions may be monthly, quarterly, annual, or another period depending on the plan selected.

You are responsible for reviewing the subscription details before purchase.

Refunds and Consumer Rights

Refunds are handled through Stripe or the active subscription platform, subject to any published refund policy and applicable law.

Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts, or modifies rights that cannot lawfully be excluded, restricted, or modified under Australian Consumer Law or other applicable law.

Comments and Community Participation

Comments may be visible to site visitors, but only eligible readers may submit them. Comments are moderated and intended for thoughtful, relevant discussion connected to the article or topic.

You must not submit comments that are abusive, harassing, threatening, discriminatory, or defamatory; spam, promotional, deceptive, or irrelevant; confidential, client-sensitive, employer-sensitive, or legally restricted; infringing of copyright, privacy, or other rights; or otherwise intended to interfere with the site or its readers.

We may moderate, refuse, remove, or disable comments at any time without notice.

By submitting a comment, you grant Synoptikon permission to host, display, reproduce, and distribute that comment as part of the site and related archives. You retain any copyright you hold in your own comment, subject to that permission.

Downloads, Workbench, and Workbench Material

Downloads, working material, templates, frameworks, diagrams, notes, and Workbench material are provided for general information and exploration only.

Unless a separate licence states otherwise, you may use them for personal learning and internal reference. You must not resell, republish, sublicense, or present them as your own work.

Workbench material is working and experimental. Do not treat it as stable, complete, production-ready, or suitable for regulated use unless that is expressly stated.

Intellectual Property

Unless otherwise stated, Synoptikon content is owned by David Hawks or the relevant rights holder.

You may link to public pages and quote short excerpts with attribution where permitted by law.

You must not copy, reproduce, republish, scrape, use to train AI systems, commercially exploit, or redistribute substantial parts of the site without permission, except where permitted by law.

Third-party material remains owned by its respective rights holders.

No Confidential Submissions

Do not submit confidential, sensitive, client, employer, regulated, or proprietary information through comments, access forms, newsletter forms, or general contact channels. If you send material voluntarily, you are responsible for ensuring you have the right to do so.

Availability and Changes

Synoptikon may change, remove, restrict, or discontinue content, access features, tiers, comments, downloads, or Workbench material at any time. The site may be temporarily unavailable due to maintenance, platform issues, or other causes outside our control.

Synoptikon may link to third-party sites and uses third-party platforms including Beehiiv, Stripe, WordPress, Resend, and hosting and security providers. Those platforms are governed by their own terms and privacy policies.

Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, SYNOPTIKON PTY LTD and David Hawks are not liable for loss or damage arising from your use of or reliance on the site, content, access features, comments, downloads, or third-party platforms.

This does not exclude rights or remedies that cannot be excluded under Australian Consumer Law or other applicable law.

Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia.
